Campfire Audio's latest earbuds offer a big step up in sound over any wireless earbud
Campfire Audio has revealed the Axion wired in-earphones, which it states offers high-performance, true hi-fi sound on the go.
Priced at £249 / $249 and available through retailers such as Amazon, they act as an entry-level route into Campfire’s diverse array of wired headphones that includes other models such as the Andromeda wired in-ears.
Campfire says they’re designed for “effortless” everyday use, and they’ve got wireless earbuds beaten when it comes to sound. The Axion features a built-in 32-bit/384kHz DAC via its USB-C cable, offering high quality sound that’s well in excess of even the best wireless earbuds.
Helping to create this higher quality sound is an all-new full-range silicon dynamic driver that Campfire says blends the compact form factor “like that of a balanced armature” driver with the “rich sonic properties” of a dynamic driver; delivering a smooth and balanced listening experience.

Its plug and play USB-C connection means you can connect the Axion to a smartphone (even an Apple one), tablet, laptop and portable gaming consoles to get sound that’s as good as the visuals without any interference or lag that a Bluetooth connection might cause.
The USB-C cable also has an in-line microphone and three-button control panel for managing calls, adjusting the volume and controlling media playback. In the box comes three pairs of foam and silicone ear-tips (small to large) to help you find the best fit and comfort levels.
The Campfire Axion in-ears are due to go on sale in April 2025, as wired headphones continue to make something of a comeback. Sometimes the old school is better than the new one.
