Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will have no Campaign mode on PS3 and Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will not offer a single-player Campaign experience, it was announced on Friday.

In a blog post on the CoD community site, it was announced the previous-gen instalments will only feature multi-player and zombies gameplay.

The team behind the game says it isn’t able to run a faithful version of the Campaign mode on the older hardware.

“As we announced back in June,” the company writes, “we know that there are still fans waiting to make the switch to the newest console hardware and developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology have been working tirelessly to bring as much of the Black Ops 3 gameplay as possible to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

“The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player coop Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.”

While the single-player story mode will be missing from the action, the makers say all of the newer elements of the multiplayer experience will remain in tact.

That will include an “all-new Specialist class of 9 Black Ops soldiers, which fundamentally change the way players engage in combat.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be released on November 6. Is that long enough to save your pennies for an Xbox One or PS4?
