Bumble and Spotify help you avoid dates with terrible music taste

During my 12 months living in London as a single man, every date I had the misfortune to embark upon was an abject, miserable failure. However, one in particular stood out as memorably terrible.

Once, less than half an hour into proceedings, the potential suitor uttered the fateful words: “Ugh, I hate Weezer.”

I know, right! They remove tongues in some countries for less than that.

Now this scarring incident could have been avoided, saving me time, money and an additional hour of politeness, had the new partnership between the dating app Bumble and Spotify been in existence.

The new deal will enable users to connect their Spotify accounts, meaning favourite artists, playlists and listening habits will be featured within their profile.

“For us, it’s all about giving our users more fun and meaningful ways to connect,” Bumble CEO Whitney Wolfe told HuffPo (via The Next Web).

“Music has such convening power and we’re excited to see what insights come from users connecting based on a shared love of music.”

Although the app is designed to allow females to make the first move, the new feature will be handy for all users.

If you’ve been approached by a potential suitor who mostly listens to X-Factor compilation albums then you can promptly swerve the advances.

Likewise for females who spot another user is listening to David Guetta pretending to make music by hitting the play button all the time, then they can instantly forget about giving them a chance to prove additional worth.

Bravo to Spotify and Bumble for building a compatibility test stronger than any algorithm the likes of Tinder and Match could ever dream of.
