Are Christmas fairy lights slowing down your internet speed?

Christmas: a time for festive cheer, decorations – and slow internet speed?

Festive fairy lights could be hampering your home broadband network, a new report claims.

UK telecoms regulator Ofcom has released new information detailing how interference from electronics – like Christmas lights – could impact wireless connections in the home.

Wireless broadband may not be working as well as it could in more than a quarter of a million homes and offices across Wales and in more than five million UK homes,” writes Ofcom.

The regulator continues: “It could be down to something as simple as interference from other electronic devices, such as a microwave oven, baby monitor, a lamp – or even Christmas fairy lights.”
