Breaking Bad Season 5 Netflix UK airing confirmed for August 12th

The final episodes of Breaking Bad Season 5 will be available on Netflix a day after it airs in the US.

Netflix subscribers in the UK and Ireland will be able to watch season five episode nine (or part 1 of the final season) on Monday 12th August.

Announced via the Netflix UK & Ireland Facebook page, the online streaming service will show all eight remaining episodes every Monday a day after they are broadcast on the AMC cable channel in the US.

Vince Giligan, the show’s creator and producer said: “Netflix has been instrumental in making Breaking Bad the success that it is — particularly in the UK and Ireland, where it has built an audience and become a huge phenomenon.  I am delighted that fans there will be able to enjoy the end of Breaking Bad on Netflix so soon after it airs in the US.”

Netflix’s Chief content officer Ted Sarandos also added, “We are thrilled to be bringing the highly-anticipated final season of Breaking Bad to Netflix members in the UK and Ireland on a first-run basis.”

Bryan Cranston, who won a 2013 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance in a Drama Series for Breaking Bad, will reprise his role as Walter White. A lung cancer-suffering, high school chemistry teacher, White begins selling Meth to raise money for his medical bills and is lured into the world of drug dealing.

Seasons one and two of Breaking Bad were previously broadcast on UK TV channels 5USA and FX but the remaining seasons were not picked up.

Netflix is available for £6 a month and is currently available to watch via PC, Mac, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, smartphones and tablets.

The streaming service recently bagged 14 Emmy nominations with the Kevin Spacey-starring House of Cards becoming the first online-only TV show to be nominated in the Best Drama category.
