Blade Runner sequel to start filming in July

Alcon, the studio behind the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, has announced filming on the movie will begin in July.

The long-awaited follow-up film will star Ryan Gosling opposite Harrison Ford, who returns as the iconic Rick Deckard.

Alcon also announced that Warner Bros. will distribute the film in the US, and Sony around the world.

Ridley Scott’s original 1982 movie is considered a classic of the Sci-Fi genre, so naturally there is some trepidation among fans about the upcoming sequel.

Still Alcon has done all it can to allay fans’ concerns, hiring Denis Villeneuve to take on directing duties.

Preeminent cinematographer Roger Deakins will shoot the film while Scott himself will serve as executive producer.

No further details regarding plot, working title, or release date have been divulged.

Alcon has said that the events in the film take place ‘some decades’ after the original, which was set in 2019.
