BlackBerry pledges more unique devices like the Passport

BlackBerry is planning to launch further smartphones with unorthodox designs, following the release of the square-shaped Passport handset.
The company’s devices head Ron Louks believes there’s an opportunity for BlackBerry to ‘disrupt’ the market with an unconventional launch every year.
“When it comes to design and being a little bit disruptive, we want that ‘wow’ factor,” Louks told Reuters. “Not all of the products will have it, but we definitely have opportunities.”
According to Louks, demand for the Passport is exceeding expectations, and he is already working on a prototype that makes the device easier to use with one hand, one of the aspects criticised in early reviews.
The firm’s new-found verve comes following the financial results released late last week, which placed the firm in better shape than expected.
Louks believes the company’s less perilous position gives it more opportunity to be innovative and take more risks in the hardware department without pulling the company under.
