Black Ops 2 Gaming Chart success extends to a sixth week

Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 release has compounded its standing as the year’s biggest gaming release, securing a fifth consecutive week atop the UK All Format Gaming Chart.

Only the second title to record five straight weeks topping the UK Gaming Chart in 2012 after LEGO Batman 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 saw week-on-week sales rise by 14 per cent for the week ending December 15 as the first-person shooter now sits just one week away from the coveted Christmas number one standing.

Rising four places to lodge itself firmly within the podium positions, Square-Enix’s Hitman Absolution benefitted from aggressive price cuts to see a 91 per cent increase in sales line it up in second for the week. For the sixth week in a row, EA’s FIFA 13 claimed the bronze, taking third spot.

Despite a 10 per cent rise in sales, party centric Just Dance 4 remains in fourth position for the year’s third last gaming chart whilst Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3, last week’s second place finisher, slipped three positions to come home in fifth.

The second of Ubisoft’s barrage of high-profile gaming chart hits, Far Cry 3 piped stable mate Assassin’s Creed 3 to a top five finish with the latest Assassin’s instalment being bumped down one spot to sixth.

With few releases of note during the past seven days, the remainder of the UK All Gaming Chart top ten is a familiar affair with Halo 4 remaining in seventh whilst Need for Speed Most Wanted holds firm in eighth. Completing a run of non-movers, LEGO Lord of the Rings and WWE 13 ended the week still in ninth and tenth places respectively.
