Britain’s most complained about broadband provider outed in Ofcom report

Ofcom has named and shamed the most complained about UK broadband providers, with some expected and not-so-expected names topping the list.

The UK’s communications regulator revealed TalkTalk received the most complaints per 100,000 subscribers between July and September 2017.

Those 30 complaints were followed by Plusnet (a BT Subsidiary) at 27 and, British Telecom at 25 complaints per 100,000 customers.

“TalkTalk’s main complaint driver was faults, service and provision issues followed by complaints handling and billing, prices and charges,” Ofcom states in its report.

At the other end of the scale, Sky Broadband topped the ISP tree with only 7 complaints per 100k subscribers.

Virgin Media sits just below Sky with just 14 complaints, while 10 EE customers were annoyed enough to register their displeasure with Ofcom.

Pay TV and mobile infamy

The report notes complaints made by consumers to Ofcom itself and doesn’t represent complaints made to the individual companies themselves.

When it comes to Pay TV, Sky also topped the pops with just two complaints for every 100,000 subscribers, Ofcom notes.

However, there was more bad news for BT, sitting at the bottom of the charts with 14 complaints.

Ofcom writes: “BT’s main complaint driver was complaints handling followed by billing, pricing and charging, and faults, service and provision issues.”

As for Pay-monthly mobile phones, Vodafone subscribers made the most complaints per 100k customers (10) while BT users were next (9).

EE, Three and O2 only received 3 complaints, while Tesco Mobile customers only reached out to Ofcom at a rate of 1/100,000.

The next report, covering there last three months of 2017, will be out in April.
