Revealed: your favourite Star Wars movie…

Today marks the UK release of the seventh major Star Wars movie, but which one is the best?

We recently surveyed our readers to find out their top Star Wars film.

It’s in celebration of Britain’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens debut, which is now screening in cinemas nationwide.

The poll, first published on 23 November racked up more than 1,600 votes.

And here are the results:

  1. Episode VI: The Empire Strikes Back – 47%
  2. Episode VII: The Force Awakens (based on trailers) – 18%
  3. Episode IV: A New Hope – 13%
  4. Episode VI: Return of the Jedi – 10%
  5. Episode III: Revenge of the Sith – 7%
  6. Episode I: The Phantom Menace – 4%
  7. Episode II: Attack of the Clones – 1%

It’s no surprise that so many of you have faith in The Force Awakens; the movie has been a smash hit with critics so far.

The winner, however, was The Empire Strikes Back. Surprisingly, the movie actually received mixed reviews upon its initial release, but is now generally regarded as the most beloved entry to the series.

What’s also interesting is that Episode II: Attack of the Clones – not the oft-derided Phantom Menace – was ranked as the worst movie of the entire franchise.
