We’re well into the thick of day two of Amazon Prime Day 2019, with under 24 hours of deal madness left to make the most of.
When investing in a decent pair of headphones, it’s by no means a cheap purchase, especially if you want a pair that is both durable and feature-packed to meet your needs. Although budget can’t go completely out of the window, it does go without saying there is no better time than making the most of a Prime Day deal to bag yourself a pair for a discounted price.
After budget, it’s time to focus in on exactly what you want your earphones for and similarly, what you want from your earphones. First things first, consider style. From in-ear to over-ear, headphones or something more compact like earphones. You can also choose between wired and wireless.
Then it comes down to features. For the athletic individuals, water resistant ear buds may be a necessity if you’re looking to take a dip, or, at the least, sweat a lot. For the commuter, block out a noisy tube with ANC (active noise cancellation) technology in a over-ear headphone design, or the businessman or woman, a pair with complete in-call buttons so you can pick-up, hang-up and move onto the next call seamlessly as you juggle work.
Whatever you’re after, we’ve got the Amazon Prime Day highlights below. Want further advice on what headphones are the best? Click one of the options below to find out more.

Best Amazon Headphone Deals – Deals live now
Amazon always has decent headphone deals running. Below are the best we’ve found.
Headphone deals at other retailers
Not found the pair you’re after? Don’t fret there are plenty of other details outside of Amazon. These are the best we’ve seen elsewhere.
What Happened Last Year?
Last year’s Prime day featured a wealth of great headphone deals. These included a £105 discount on the Sennheiser PXC 550 and £61 off the B&O Beoplay H4 wireless headphones. The two deals were the cheapest we’d ever seen of either set at the time. For gym goers the Anker Wireless Headphones enjoyed a £6 discount that let you grab them for a modest £20.
What Headphone Deals Can We Expect?
This year we’re expecting to see a number of cracking deals targeting the growing true-wireless segment of the headphone market. True wireless has been a growing form factor since Apple launched its first gen Airpods.
Following the Airpods’ release, numerous other companies have launched sets targeting the space including Samsung with the Galaxy Buds earlier this year. With buyers clamouring to get their hands on true-wireless sets, it’d make sense for Amazon to release a fresh wave of deals targeting the space as a result.

Which Wireless Earbuds are the Best?
When it comes to what makes a decent pair of earbuds, it comes down to what you’re using them for. Top dogs in our best earbuds breakdown are the Sony WF-1000X earbuds. They tick a lot of boxes with a comfortable, secure fit and adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) for optimal sound quality.
For the binging commuter, noise-cancelling technologies that can block out the screechy tube will be top of the list of requirements, although if your commute involves walking or cycling, you’d be best to avoid ANC for your safety. Not too pricey at £59.99, the Amps Air 2.0 earbuds offer a decent sound.
You might also be on a budget. In which case, top of the range earbuds might be out of your price bracket. Still, it’s understandable you still want the best that you can afford. Along with the Amps Air 2.0 earbuds, the Motorola Streams are just £39.98 and were a hit with us with a great design and fit, water resistance and complete with a charging case.
What are the Best Headphones 2019?
Much like what makes the perfect earbud, your preference with headphones will depend on many factors, including the features most suitable to your audio listening needs. Headphones is the broader, umbrella term for any headgear and can jump from earbuds to in-ear, over-ear and on-ear, wired to wireless. So ultimately the best comes down to personal preference. That said we always have a few recommendations up our sleeve of the many we’ve tested.
If money isn’t too much of an issue, the Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones are a great wireless set that utilise smart technologies to bring you the sound you want to suit your environment. With both wireless and noise cancellation functionality, there are touch controls on the right earpad for skipping and pausing playback and if you hold your hand over the earpad you can hear what’s around you. On the cheaper end of the spectrum, the AKG Y50, a smaller, stylish and portable effort that offer enjoyable sound at a fraction of the price.
