BenQ Launches ‘Lights On’ Projector Range

I think it’s all established we’d rather perform with the lights on…

With this (not even remotely) in mind BenQ has brought us a major breakthrough with its latest range of business projectors: models which are as comfortable in a light room as a dark one. The ‘SP920’ (top) and ‘SP870’ (bottom) are the models which will first bring this flexibility to market with BenQ claiming they are suitable for “high-ambient-light environments ranging from meeting rooms to auditoriums.”

At the heart of this achievement are the DLP ‘Brilliant Color’ chipset – which BenQ claims will enable both models to produce richer colour tones along with brighter whites and deeper blacks – and ‘UNISHAPE’ technology which counteracts the loss of image brightness in high light by varying the intensity of the projector lamp in sync with the colour wheel. The end result is purported 40 per cent increase in image brightness.

So what are the tech specs you’re going to get with all this daylight tomfoolery? High Definition (720p) compatible native XGA (1024 x 768) resolutions, 2000:1 contrast ratios, brightness of 6000 (SP920) and 5000 (SP870) ANSI lumens and a wealth of connectivity options including HDMI, DVI, Component, S-Video and Composite along with a stereo mini jack.

Launching in August, prices for the pair begin at £1,299 ex VAT for the SP870 and jump sharply to £2,999 ex VAT for the SP920.
