The beast mode OnePlus 5 is finally shipping
OnePlus has announced the top-tier version of its OnePlus 5 handset is now available to ship in the United States.
The version carrying a capacious 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is listed as “shipping immediately.”
It has been available for a while in the UK and Europe, but today’s news is sure to alert Statesiders hoping to pick up the most powerful version of the new flagship killer.
The premium handset, which is only available in Midnight Black, costs £499 in the UK, $549 in the US and €559 in Europe.
Meanwhile, the ‘Slate Grey’ 6GB RAM/64GB storage model is £449/$479/€499 respectively.
Previously, the highest-end version of the device has been available through various network carriers, like O2 in the UK, but now interested parties can pick one up directly, and off contract.

The OnePlus 5 recently earned a near-perfect 9/10 score from TrustedReviews, somewhat justifying the larger price tag compared with earlier releases.
It packs the Snapdragon 835 processor, solid battery life, a well-functioning dual camera and fantastic software with little bloatware on top of Android.
Our mobile editor Max Parker concluded: “Even though at £449/$479 the OnePlus 5 is the most expensive entry in the series yet, it still is undeniably one of the biggest bargains in tech. Considering varieties of the iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S8 can cost up to £400 more, it really does feel like OnePlus is onto another winner.”
However, whether the 8GB RAM version used in our review is really necessary remains to be seen.
“Frankly, it’s complete overkill and 4GB of RAM is more than enough for an Android phone,” Max added in his review.
Our advice would be to go with the 6GB version and save yourself a few bucks.
