Bayan 7 iPod Dock Boasts Twin Amplifiers

2011 has seen the iPod dock come of age with some serious contenders fighting it out recently for the coveted title of Best Home Audio Product of the Year and now Bayan has unveiled a new entry into the market which it hopes may capture the 2012 title.

The Bayan 7 is a high-end iPod dock which claims to be the world’s first with a twin amplifier set-up and it will even allow you to dock two iPhones/iPods at one time (however you won’t be able to dock your iPads).

The look of the Bayan 7 – an aspect of an iPod speaker which to many is as crucial as its sound quality – is something which will divide people, you’ll either love it or hate it. We’re currently in the latter camp but we’ll reserve final judgement until we get one into the office for testing.

The twin amplifiers pump out a whopping 120W of power and the Bayan 7 has a five-way 2.1 channel stereo speaker configuration including an 8in subwoofer, a 2in mid-range and 1in tweeters. The frequency range is 30Hz to 47kHz.

The Bayan 7 features a 12mm solid wood casing to help strengthen it and aid acoustic efficiency. On the rear you’ll find a USB-in and an Aux-in to let you connect all manner of devices – including an iPad.

Should you have the need, the remote will let you switch between your two iDevices while remaining seated on the couch. We’re not too sure how beneficial two docks are but at least you’ll be able to charge both at the same time.

The Bayan 7 will be available from tomorrow in black and white and will set you back £299 which compares well with the Arcam rCube (£350) and the B&W Zeppelin Air (£499).
