Battlefield 4 PS4 release ‘confirmed’ by EA official

Despite having failed to make the announcement at the game’s recent unveiling, latest reports have suggested EA has confirmed a Battlefield 4 PS4 release is on the cards.

Whilst both publisher EA and developer DICE have to date remained positively tight-lipped on the topic of next-gen compatibility, new reports have quoted EA spokespeople as suggesting that a Battlefield 4 PS4 release is indeed on the cards.

According to Polygon, an unnamed “EA official” speaking at the Games Developer Conferece in the US, the location for the Battlefield 4 unveiling, has reportedly confirmed that the Call of Duty rivalling title will hit Sony’s upcoming console, a device which will sport a new touchpanel hosting controller.

“While the PS4 edition is not currently listed on the official pre-order site for the game, an Electronic Arts official confirmed that the game is coming to the platform,” the latest reports suggested. “The game is coming to the Windows PC, PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360, according to Electronic Arts officials.”

The claimed sources reportedly added that, at present, there is “No price for the PS4 version of Battlefield 4.”
Although a Battlefield 4 PS4 release has yet to be openly announced, the game’s autumn 2013 launch billing would fit in nicely with the recently confirmed ‘holiday 2012’ PS4 release date window.

Having missed the PS4 unveiling where a number of its rivals showcased a selection of next-gen titles, EA has previously hinted that a Battlefield 4 PS4 release could well be on the cards, suggesting they are “excited” by the new console.

“It is amazing what the imagination of the game developers are allowed to do with that much power,” EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said when questioned on the PS4 recently.

“At the end of the day we are very excited about Sony’s platform. We feel there’s a huge opportunity there. The technical power on the platform is going to allow us to do a substantial amount of things that have never been done before.”
