Battlefield 4 pre-order bonuses confirmed alongside special edition game

With Battlefield 4 unveiled last night alongside a 17 minute gameplay trailer, publisher EA has now confirmed a selection of Battlefield 4 pre-order bonuses set to be handed out to eager gamers.

One of the most eagerly awaited games of the year, and a title that is set to go head-to-head with Activision’s next Call of Duty offering, Battlefield 4 will hit consoles later this year with those who pre-order the title from selected retailers to be rewarded with a raft of goodies.

With a Battlefield 4 release date confirmed for the still quite broad launch window of ‘autumn 2013’, EA has revealed that Battlefield 4 pre-orders will be greeted with access to a “premium expansion pack at no additional cost.”

Although confirming its intentions to reward advanced orders with additional in-game content, EA has, as yet at least, failed to offer any further, in-depth details on what the touted “premium expansion pack” will comprise of.

As well as the standard rendition of the game, EA has added that a Battlefield 4 Digital Deluxe edition will be made available alongside an Origin exclusive special addition. Both of these addition offerings will feature a selection of new but currently unspecified in-game digital items as well as the same pre-order benefits as the basic game.

“We are so humbled and proud to debut Battlefield 4 on a global stage with simultaneous events in San Francisco and Stockholm,” Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Games said in unveiling the game last night. “To be this early in development, and to already be so polished is a huge achievement for the DICE team and reflection of their passion and commitment to driving the franchise forward.”

He added: “We have so much more in store. It is thrilling to witness people’s reaction when seeing the game for the first time. It really makes you realise that we are at the beginning of a whole new era for gaming.”

Confirmed to hit the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, EA has suggested that Wii U gamers hoping to get their mitts on the Battlefield 4 release will be left disappointed, whilst the company has not yet announced its positioning on next-gen consoles such as the recently unveiled PS4.
