Battlefield 4 Open Beta available October 1

EA Games has announced the Battlefield 4 Open Beta will be available from October 1 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Fans of the game will be able to get their Battlefield 4 fix as soon as October 1, as EA Games launch the game’s Open Beta.

“The highly-anticipated Battlefield 4 action starts with the Battlefield 4 Open Beta on PS3, Xbox 350 and PC slated for October 1, then the game lights up on October 29,” wrote EA Games Chief Operating Officer, Peter Moore, in an official blog post.

Moore also confirmed the Battlefield 4 release date for Xbox One and PS4. The FPS will launch on the Xbox One on November 19 in the US and November 21 in Europe. On November 12, the PS4 Battlefield 4 edition will launch in the US, with the European edition arriving November 29.

EA Games has also stated that those choosing to buy the current-generation console version will receive a code allowing them to upgrade to the Xbox One or PS4 edition for $10 when purchased from select retailers in the US.

“We want to make it simple to start playing on current-generation consoles, and then transition to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later,” said Moore. “Playing early on the Xbox 360 or PS3 means you will be able to learn maps, unlock items, and build stats in Battlefield 4; or create your Ultimate Teams and more in FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25.”

Some UK retailers are offering a similar deal for Battlefield 4 and FIFA 14 gamers. The boxed PS3 Battlefield 4 edition comes with a code for a £10 download of the PS4 version, while GAME is offering a BF4 and FIFA 14 trade-in deal. With this, gamers will receive a £40 discount on the next-generation version when trading in a PS3 or Xbox 360 copy of either game.

“You can then seamlessly carry over a lot of cool content from the current gen game to a new Xbox One or PS4 version to get a jump on the competition.”
