The first Baby Yoda toys are here and definitely worth the wait

It’s rare you can accuse Disney of being late to the party when it comes to toys. However, as pertains to the Disney Plus hit The Mandalorian and the global obsession with The Child dubbed ‘Baby Yoda’ you could say the entertainment giant missed a trick or two.

Fans of the show clamouring to get their hands on Baby Yoga merchandise have been waiting since November to part with their hard-earned cash. But aside from some terrible, rushed-out t-shirts, they’ve had to keep those fistfuls of dough stowed away.

Thankfully, Disney is now making up for lost time with an onslaught of toys and games from the good folks at Hasbro. The range, unveiled at the Toy Fair 2020, is crowned by an animatronic Baby Yoda toy that’s going to sell an Imperial Cruiser-load of at just $60 (around £46).

According to reports (via Gizmodo) from those present at the Toy Fair, The Child Animatronic Plush can wiggle his ears, move his head from side-to-side and extend an am to use The Force. It’ll even let out the old coo from time to time, as part of 25 sound and motion combos. If you lay the little guy down, he’ll take a “force nap.”

It was shown off in the bassinet The Child travels around in, although it doesn’t float and it’s not included with the toy. What do you expect for $60?

It’s available to pre-order from today, complete with the silver pendant, but unfortunately it won’t be available until the autumn. It’ll probably coincide with the time season two of The Mandalorian goes live on Disney Plus.

There are toys that will be available from this spring. There’s a Baby Yoda-themed version of the classic electronic board game Operation, the obligatory Funko Pop, and a range of figurines and plushies, but the animatronic is undoubtedly the highlight.
