B&O BeoPlay V1 TV Announced – With Apple TV Slot and Ceiling Suspension Option

Bang & Olufsen has unveiled the first TV addition to its BeoPlay range, in the shape of the B&O BeoPlay V1.

Being marketed as a product ‘more people can afford’, the new TV starts at a trifling £1,999 and comes in 32in and 40in (£2,499) versions…

It does have a few interesting features to come close to justifying that cost, though.

B&O BeoPlay V1

As with everything B&O, the emphasis here is on design, with the body/frame of the set being formed from a folded sheet of metal that’s been beautifully powder coated. Its standard stand is also a starkly simple one formed from steel bar. However, the real trick here is that there are a number of mounting options. As well as the standard table mount there’s a floor stand, wall mount and you can even have it hung from your ceiling!

Equally stylish is the remote which can also be used to control the rest of your AV system. It even supports Apple TV and the TV itself has a specially designed slot on the back to accommodate one.

The feature B&O is most keen to highlight though is the high-quality
audio. Quite simply it is designed to, and by all accounts does, out do
any other standard TV speakers. This is largely down to the three Class D ICEpower amps in the TV. You can also easily bolster the audio by plugging in extra speakers, as the the integrated 5.1 surround module and speaker/subwoofer connections are all included.

Meanwhile the screen specs are relatively modest with a Full HD 100Hz LED edge-lit LCD panel doing the donkey work. Both sizes of the BeoPlay V1 go on sale on the 3rd May, in both black and white finishes.
