Asus ZenWatch 3 in leaked spy shots ahead of IFA unveil?

Asus impressed us with the sleek design, improved Android Wear implementation, and affordable pricing on the ZenWatch 2, so naturally, we’re excited to see what the ZenWatch 3 brings.

And it could be that we don’t have long to wait until we find out exactly what the Taiwanese firm has in store, as new leaked shots purporting to show the new smartwatch have emerged.

The images came via China’s telecom regulator, which published photos, taken during an inspection last week, seeming to show the device.

While there was no information provided, the images reveal what could be the biggest change – namely the switch from a rectangular design to a rounded one.

Whereas the company’s previous smartwatch offering resembled the Apple Watch in design, the follow up looks more akin to the Moto 360 range.

And while there’s no way to confirm these pictures show the device’s final design, they happen to match FCC filings from last week which also refer to a round design.

The other materials shown in the photos seem similar to the ZenWatch 2’s, with a Rose Gold-looking finish on the trim.

What’s more, the device in the photos appears to reveal the addition of two extra physical buttons.

The arrival of a physical crown on the previous device was a welcome upgrade, so we’re intrigued to see whether the extra buttons actually do make it to the final version of the new ZenWatch.

And with Asus set to present at IFA on August 31, we could get our answer fairly soon. At least, we’re hoping to.
