ROG Rapture GT-AX11000: World’s first 10 Gbps gaming router launches
Asus has launched what it claims is the world’s first 10Gbps gaming router, the ROG Rapture GT-AX11000, alongside a new mesh network system and wealth of new computing components.
According to Asus, the catchily-named ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 is the world’s first tri-band 802.11ax router. It’ll apparently offer users insanely fast data speeds of up to 1148Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and up to 4804Mbps on each of its dual 5GHz bands.
If true that’ll make the router one of the fastest Trusted Reviews has ever tested – though we’re taking these numbers with a pinch of salt until we get it in our lab.

The router will also feature a few gamer-specific features. One of the most interesting of these is its custom Game Boost mode. This instructs the router to intelligently prioritise gaming traffic ahead of other processes, kind of like Killer LAN.
It’ll also stop high-bandwidth traffic hogs, such as downloads, from operating while active. The mode can be turned on using a physical button on the router, or in the GUI or app interface. The tech will reportedly help eliminate network lag and latency, creating a smoother online gaming experience.
For those that prefer a cabled connection, the router will also have a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port just for gaming. The router will also automatically reserve extra 5GHz bandwidth whatever you do.
Asus hasn’t confirmed any of the ROG Rapture’s other specs but we’ll be sure to update this article when we get them.

AiMesh AX6100 Wi-Fi System
Asus unveiled a new mesh-networking system alongside the Rapture. Mesh is a new type of networking tech being used by big names, including Netgear with its Netgear Orbi and BT with BT Whole Home Wi-Fi, that aims to help improve Wi-Fi signal coverage and remove dead spots.
AiMesh is a tri-band system that, according to Asus, will offer users a peak aggregate throughput of up to 6100Mbps. The majority of this will be handled by the 5GHz 802.11ax band, which pushes up to 4804Mbps. A separate basic 5GHz band will offer 866Mbps of bandwidth for 802.11ac gear. The basic 2.4GHz band accounts for 400Mbps of the figure.
The figures are impressive, but mean the Aimesh could prove to be slower than existing mesh systems for anyone running older hardware that doesn’t support the 802.11x wireless standard.
Asus didn’t reveal any other details about the AiMesh.

Asus hasn’t given the ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 or AiMesh AX6100 WiFi System a concrete release date or price. All we know is that both will launch in Q3 this year.
