Asus Launches G71Gx Notebook

As if last year's model wasn't powerful enough.

Asus launched its quad-core sporting G71 gaming notebook last December, but apparently that system wasn’t quite powerful enough. Under its guise as the G71Gx, Asus’ laptop now boasts even higher spec.

Graphics grunt is now provided by an Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M, packing 112 stream processors and 1GB of dedicated GDDR3 RAM. This complements the G71Gx’s 17in, 1,920 x 1,200 pixel screen backup up by up to 12GB of DDR2 RAM – in three dimms – and up to 1TB of storage, via two 500GB drives.

The G71Gx also boasts a Blu-ray drive and speakers from Altec Lansing should they be a selling point for any would-be buyer. Pricing isn’t available yet, but it seems unlikely the improved specs would bring the G71Gx below the £1,349 and £1,999 MSRPs of its dual-core and quad-core predecessor.
