Assassin’s Creed movie coming December 2016

The long delayed Assassin’s Creed movie will arrive in December 2016, 20th Century Fox has confirmed.

We finally have a release date for the Assassin’s Creed movie, although it won’t launch until December 2016 in US cinemas.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be released on December 21 2016.

It will star Michael Fassbender as the protagonist, and be directed by Justin Kurzel, known for Blue Tongue and the Turning.

However, Kurzel has just finished working on a film adaptation of Macbeth, also starring Fassbender, which will hit cinemas this year.

It was revealed in 2012 that Fassbender would star in the Assassin’s Creed movie spin-off and that he would co-produce it too.

Fassbender was named the company’s “first choice” to play the iconic hooded Assassin, but it’s not clear whether it will be centred on a specific character from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

As for the task of writing the Assaassin’s Creed movie, the writing duo Adam Cooper and Bill Collage are down. The pair recently worked on Exodus: Gods & Kings for Ridley Scott.

The film has been talked about since 2012, with Ubisoft originally aiming to fix a cast, script and director by summer 2013.

However, in April 2014, it was announced that the film was being completely rewritten, which is when Cooper and Collage came on board.
