Assassin’s Creed 4 release date and cover art confirmed

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag has been confirmed with developer Ubisoft revealing that it will announce full details on the pirate-themed title on Monday.

With the next instalment of the much loved Assassin’s Creed franchise set to take gamers to a new time period and introduce a new lead character, Ubisoft, whilst teasing full details for next week, has inadvertently revealed the Assassin’s Creed 4 release date, listing the title on its official website with an October 29, 2013 arrival.

Unveiling the official Assassin’s Creed 4 cover art, the title’s publisher has confirmed that full Black  Flag details are just a couple of days away. “We confirm that Ubisoft will announce all the details of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag on Monday March 4th at 5PM GMT,” an official statement from the company read.

With Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot earlier this month confirming the Assassin’s Creed 4 release date would be held prior to April 2014, the developer appears to have now narrowed down this launch window, with an October 29, 2013 Assassin’s Creed 4 release date listed on the Ubisoft website.

With the publisher having already revealed that an Assassin’s Creed 4 release date will be held for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC consoles, with PS3 gamers to benefit from “60 minutes of exclusive gameplay,” the latest listing has also revealed that the title will land for “next-gen consoles.”

Whilst Sony last week formally unveiled the PS4 ahead of an eagerly awaited ‘holiday 2013’ PS4 release date, latest Xbox 720 rumours have suggested that Microsoft will hold an Xbox 720 launch event on April 26 ahead of an expected pre-Christmas release.

Although full Assassin’s Creed 4 features are still a few days away from a formal unveiling, latest reports have claimed that the title’s lead protagonist will go by the name of Edward Kenway, the father of Assassin’s Creed 3 lead Haytham Kenway and a known Assassin and Privateer.

It has been suggested that Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will see gamers hit the Caribbean, with the 1715 setting seeing gamers island hop between the likes of Jamaica, the Bahamas and Cuba.
