Assassin’s Creed 4 release confirmed for pre-April 2014
Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed 4 will be released sometime in early 2014, featuring a new hero and a previously unseen time era.
Speaking during Ubisoft’s scheduled third-quarter earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced the new Assassin’s Creed 4 title will launch in the company’s 2014 fiscal year, which ends on March 31 2014.
“We are delighted and proud to announce today that in financial year ’14, we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise,” said Guillemott. “It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple characters of the product, each getting several years to make their version of an Assassin’s Creed game.”
As of yet, the details of the next Assassin’s Creed 4 game are sparse, but Guillemot has promised to share more specifics on the title “very soon.”
The latest game in the Assassin’s Creed series was released in late October last year and with 12 million copies of Assassin’s Creed 3 sold so far, it has outsold Assassin’s Creed Revelations by 70 per cent.
Set within the American Revolution, Assassin’s Creed 3 tells the tale of half Mohawk, half English warrior Connor Kenway, alongside the modern assassin Desmond Miles. Location settings include Boston, New York and a fictitious Massachusetts frontier comprising of Charlestown, Lexington and Concord, with gameplay taking place within a myriad of terrains from wild frontier environments to naval escapades at sea.
News of an official Assassin’s Creed 4 confirmation have sparked up the already rife online rumours that suggest the next game could take place in Victorian England or even in the future.
