Argos offers Amazon-like same-day deliveries

Argos has become the first UK high-street retailer to offer same-day deliveries.
It’s a tactic straight out of the Amazon playbook, but it promises to give Argos a unique edge among physical retailers this Christmas.
The move is also well timed to capitalise on Black Friday on November 27, which is becoming increasingly important for retailers here in the UK.
Argos is charging a flat rate of £3.95 for its new Fast Track service, which can quickly deliver from a range of 20,000 products. That’s significantly cheaper than Amazon’s £6.99 Prime Now service, which is only available to Prime customers living within certain postcodes in London and the Midlands.
The retailer is offering four delivery time slots each day: 7-10am, 10am-1pm, 2-6pm and 7-10pm. Customers need to order before 6pm to guarantee delivery on the same day.

In order to enable this speedy deliver service, Argos has created 3,300 new delivery driver jobs.
As Engadget reports, in addition to same-day deliveries, Argos is bringing its Fast Track Collection service to 800 stores. This allows you to order and pay for your items online, then skip straight to the front of the queue come collection time.
