Is OnePlus planning to release this accessory with the OnePlus 8?
A tweet from OnePlus co-founder, Carl Pei, suggests that the company may release a fast charging power bank alongside the OnePlus 8.
Excitement is building ahead of the release of the OnePlus 8 and it looks as though a power bank could appear alongside the new phone as a coinciding peripheral release.
If OnePlus does release a bank, we would expect it to pack a pretty impressive fast-charge feature that could push or break records in terms of charge times. If the company hasn’t come up with something impressive, it’s hard to see why it would opt to release a power bank at this stage.
That said, the Tweet from Pei may just have been a gauge of interest, rather than any sincere indication that the company will actually make a power bank.

We’re expecting the OnePlus 8 to be unveiled around May 2020, though this has not officially been confirmed. If this is the case, we could easily see the power bank unveiled at the same time.
However, a recent Tweet from tech-tipster Ishan Agarwal suggests that the phone could arrive earlier. Agarwal warned enthusiasts to “expect a launch in late March or April” – so we might not have to wait until May after all.

OnePlus itself has already teased the OnePlus 8’s 120Hz fluid display. In January OnePlus CEO Pete Lau showed off the panel, saying:
“We believe that the smoothest smartphone display must also be able to deliver a superior visual quality and viewing comfort. We’re sure that OnePlus’s new 120Hz Fluid Display will be the best you’ll lay eyes on in 2020”.
We’re looking forward to OnePlus confirming – or indeed correcting – the rumours circling the OnePlus 8. We’ll likely see more details soon and it will be interesting to see if a fast-charging power bank peripheral is on the list.
