Apple is expected to focus on Siri for its Worldwide Developers Conference, which is set to kick of later today.
It’s long been rumoured that Apple has some advanced Siri plans up its sleeve for its next WWDC, but those plans appear to be crystallising in the hours leading up to the event.
The Wall Street Journal has published a fresh report claiming that Apple will announce the opening up of Siri to third party developers. You’ll be able to ask Siri to call you an Uber ride or check in to a flight through a particular airline app, to name two examples of what this could mean.
This ties in with a report late last month claiming that Apple will launch a Siri SDK at WWDC. This software development kit will enable app makers to harness Apple’s voice-activated personal assistant in a way they haven’t been allowed to do up to now.
We also get confirmation in this latest report that Siri will be coming to Mac at WWDC.

After leading the way with the initial launch of Siri in 2011, Apple has fallen behind the likes of Amazon, Google, and Microsoft when it comes to the sophistication and usefulness of their assistant program.
WWDC 2016 should see Apple addressing that, as well as updating us on the new features of iOS 10 and the latest version of OS X (rumoured to be getting a name change to MacOS).
