Apple Watch release date scheduled for March?

The long-awaited Apple Watch is expected to go on sale in the United States in March, according to reports on Tuesday.

Since announcing the device back in September, Apple has refused to be drawn beyond an ‘early 2015’ release schedule, but 9to5Mac sources now claim it’ll be on sale by the end of the third month.

The same sources claim Apple is about to begin an extensive staff training program, in order to bring sales staff up to speed on the crucial smartwatch.

That training will take place from mid-February, according to the report, with one or two staff from each retail store being send to Cupertino, California or Austin, Texas.  From there, those in-the-know staffers will be training the rest of the staff before the device hits the shelves.

9to5Mac says delays putting the finishing touches to the operating system and the hardware could still mean the launch date may slip into April, but says March is the current plan.

Putting the device on sale before the fourth month of the year would just about allow Apple to live up to its ‘early 2015’ pledge.

Unfortunately there’s still no news on when the Apple Watch will be rolled out to other territories.

The company may choose to wait until the Apple Pay platform rolls out outside of the US before sending in the Apple Watch.

Recent reports have suggested the company is slowly moving forward with those plans with a launch expected early this year.
