Apple Watch with circular screen could be on the way according to patent

A new patent filed by Apple suggests that the firm is investigating using a circular screen for future generations of the Apple Watch, which would finally bring it up alongside its Wear OS competition.
The patent, which was spotted by Phone Arena, indicates the technology firm is investigating using displays with curved edges, for a variety of different devices.
Yes, although the most obvious use for the technology would be a future smart watch, the patent also talks about it being used in headphones, eyeglasses, navigation devices, cellular telephones, media players and even TVs or computer displays.
So there’s no guarantee that this will make it to a future Apple Watch, but we’d be very surprised if that’s where it didn’t appear first — if it appears at all.

From square to circle
Despite the fact that Wear OS smart watches such as the LG Watch Style and Samsung Gear S3 have featured circular displays for years now, Apple’s flagship wearable has so far clung to a square screen.
To its credit, it’s styled the choice out with a nicely curved body shape that means it doesn’t look too dated.
But still, it’s time to move on, and hopefully Apple’s latest patent is proof that the firm is willing to take that bold new step.
Or maybe it’s just planning to launch a smart phone with a circular screen like the Cyrcle.
