Apple Watch apps to be ready this month

Apple has reportedly requested that some app developers have their Apple Watch software ready to go by mid-February.

A source revealed to MacRumors that Apple wants one of ‘its biggest Apple Pay partners’ to ready up its iOS application with WatchKit support.

The deadline for this is, apparently, February 12, at which point it needs to be ready to launch in the App Store.

It’s not yet clear whether Apple is asking this for all app developers, but it’s likely that the firm wants to test at least some third-party software ahead of the launch.

Apple could also be setting up to use some of the fledgling apps at its launch at a possible launch event, although the fruity firm hasn’t confirmed this just yet.

This is all one more reason to believe that the Apple Watch is all but complete, especially considering recent reports of Apple employees sporting the wearable out and about in Cupertino, California.

The Apple Watch is due to launch in April, and will land with Apple Pay functionality, a host of apps on the app store, and a reported active-usage battery life of just 2.5 hours.

The cheapest option is expected to cost $349 (£230), although pricing for all the variants across all regions is generally unknown at this point.
