Apple TV could compete with PS4 and Xbox One

The new Apple TV could compete with the PS4 and Xbox One, according to the latest report.
Apple is apparently poised to launch its own competitor to the big boys in console gaming with its upcoming Apple TV set-top box, due to launch on September 9 alongside the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
According to sources within the Asian Apple supply chains speaking to the Telegraph, the new Apple TV is set to come with a sophisticated controller not unlike that offered with the Xbox One and PS4.
The controller is believed to come with haptic touch sensors or Force Touch pads, which respond to the force applied to them by the player’s fingers.
This will apparently be used to interact with the new Apple TV’s so-called advanced gaming features.
Semiconductor sources also reveal that the new Apple TV has increased processing power that allows it to feature advanced graphics.
Previous rumours suggest it will pack the same Apple A8 chip as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S, rather than the advanced A8X processor found in the iPad Air 2.

Other new features expected to arrive with the next Apple TV include full-system Siri voice command support, an updated controller and potentially Apple’s own streaming service to rival Netflix and Amazon Instant Prime Video.
We’re still unconvinced by the idea that an Apple TV set-top box could even attempt to compete with the Xbox One and PS4.
It’s far more likely that it will offer similar gaming capabilities to devices like the Amazon Fire TV, or perhaps even the enhanced Nvidia Shield Android TV set-top box.
But, we shall wait with baited breath. Who knows, Apple might just surprise us.
