Apple touts ‘incredible’ demand for sold out iPhone 5S

Apple says demand for the new iPhone 5S handset has been “incredible” on day one, and said it is already sold out in some stores around the world.
Reports this week that the Touch ID-enabled handset would be in seriously short supply on release date, and that seems to have come to pass judging by customer experiences on Friday.
Those who weren’t in line early at Apple Store locations on Friday morning have struggled to obtain the handset, with no or severely limited supplies at network stores.
In the UK, hundreds of punters were turned away from retail outlets that quickly exhausted their supplies.
In a statement issued to AllThingsD, the company said: “Demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and we are currently sold out or have limited supply of certain iPhone 5s models in some stores.”
At the time of writing, all three colours at all three storage selections are listed to be dispatched in “October.”
There are no such issues with the iPhone 5C, which is listed to be dispatched in 1-3 business days.
