Many Apple fans have spent the week mourning the loss of the trusty MagSafe charging port on the company’s new super-sleek MacBook computer.
Apple chose to drop the propitiatory pop-out charging solution – which has saved our computers for certain doom on too many occasions to count – in favour of a single USB Type-C port for charging, adding accessories and transferring data.
While the loss of MagSafe will place MacBook users in peril, there are many advantages that’ll compensate, according to a 9to5Mac report on Thursday evening.
Following conversations with those ‘close to the situation,’ Apple has no plans to limit the use of third party charging solutions and accessories, as it had with MagSafe.

That could create a new market akin to the multitude of portable battery solutions for iOS devices. So, as long as the battery pack offers enough power to recharge the MacBook, more compact solutions should be forthcoming.

According to the report, there’ll even be the opportunity for MacBook owners to replenish their devices by hooking up to a sister device.
There’ll also be the opportunity to hook up to a much wider range of third-party accessories via the USB Type-C port than ever before.
Google and Belkin have already announced a much larger range of cables and adapters at a much more agreeable price point than the £65 Apple adapter announced alongside the MacBook this week.
