Apple Music support to hit Sonos speakers on December 15

Apple Music subscribers will soon be able to send their tunes to Sonos’ range of multiroom speakers.

The manufacturer has announced a public beta, which will be available to all owners, will commence on December 15.

The integration will allow users of the Sonos app to queue-up tunes to play on one or more of the speakers dotted around the home.

The beta represents the first time Apple has partnered with an audio manufacturer in order to extend the functionality of its Apple Music service.

Currently Spotify, Pandora, Tidal and Google Play subscribers are currently benefitting from Sonos integration, so it’s about time Apple jumped on board.

Although Apple enables tunes to be shared to Bluetooth and AirPlay enabled speakers, the partnership is significant.

It represents a loosening of the firm’s traditional stance on opening up to new platforms.

Recognising that it needs as great an audience for Apple Music as possible, it released an app for Android phones and tablets just three weeks ago.

In previous years, the company used platforms like iTunes to lure folks to iOS devices.

If you’re interested in taking Apple Music for a spin on your Sonos speakers then the firm is still offering a three month free trial to new users.
