Apple Music coming to Sonos today

Apple Music is set to hit Sonos later today, it’s been confirmed.
Sonos support had been seen as a major omission when Apple rolled out its subscription music service last year.
The company finally added Apple Music support to its popular multi-room speaker system in mid-December, but only in beta form. Since then, it’s been fixing bugs and stabilising things for a full release.
Now the company has confirmed that the beta tag will be removed at 9am ET today. That equates to 2pm UK time.
It could be the final prompt for many to invest in the latest Sonos Play:5 speaker, which we found to be excellent when we reviewed it late last year.

Of course, as we pointed out in that review, one of the drawbacks is that you have to use the Sonos app to play all of your music – and that will remain the case even though Apple Music is now fully supported.
On the plus side, it means you can conduct track searches across multiple streaming platforms, should you hold multiple subscriptions. On the downside, it’s a bit of a party pooper when everyone in the group has to download and set up a new app just to put a song they like on.
