Apple Mac mini finally gets an update, starting at £399

Apple announced an update to its Mac mini today at a keynote event in Cupertino, California.

Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior VP of marketing, introduced the update, declaring ‘people love Mac mini.’

Features

The new Mac Mini features 4th-gen Intel Core processors, 90% faster integrated graphics, Thunderbolt 2, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

It’s a great first Mac or addition to your home network, and the new Mac mini is a nice upgrade packed into an incredibly compact design,” boasted Schiller.

The marketing don then dubbed the new device as ‘the best value ever.’

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5000 and Intel Irish Graphics should run significantly faster than the previous generation of Mac mini.

The devices also ship with Apple’s brand new OS X Yosemite, the latest operating system promised to be ‘more fluid than ever.’

Release date and price

The Mac mini starts shipping today, and comes in three different variants.

The first model offers up a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 for £399.

Next up is a slightly nippier 2.6GHz i5 variant pricing at £569.

Finally, there’s the top-end turbo-boosted 3.3GHz i5 version with 8GB of memory and a 1TB Fusion drive for £799.
