Apple just secretly admitted that the Jet Black iPhone 7 will scratch really easily
Apple is obviously extremely proud of the new Jet Black iPhone 7. The new hue was pretty much the first thing the company mentioned in a dedicated, Jony Ive-narrated promo video after announcing the name.
However, it’s debatable whether that beautiful, glossy anodized finish will remain pristine for long unless iPhone 7 buyers keep it wrapped in a case.
Buried in the fine print of the iPhone 7 website, Apple admits that the finish may be more prone to scratching than other handsets in the range.
“The high-gloss finish of the Jet Black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process,” the company writes.

While this is hardly antenna-gate, we could see this being an issue that iPhone 7 buyers become a little upset about and begin complaining about en-masse. Alternately, it may result in buyers steering clear of this model altogether.
Strictly speaking, it’s not that big of a deal, considering most prudent iPhone owners ruin the aesthetics with less than attractive cases anyway.
