Apple iWatch reportedly has 100-strong team working on it

Apple has a team of 100 staff working on the Apple Watch, according to a recent report.

The news comes from a respectable source in Bloomberg, which claims that “Apple has a team of about 100 product designers working on a wristwatch-like device that may perform some of the tasks now handled by the iPhone and iPad.”

It names “two people familiar with the company’s plans” as the source of this extraordinary claim.

If true, it would mean that the Apple watch – or the iWatch, as some have dubbed it – is at a far more advanced stage of development than anyone had anticipated.

Whilst rumours of an Apple-made watch have been doing the internet rounds for a couple of years now, it was only a few days ago that the New York Times surfaced with fresh reports on the project. It claimed that Apple was working on a watch formed using an innovative curved glass production method.

However, the report simply said that Apple was experimenting with the form factor rather than plying major resources into it.

This latest claim of 100 staff member suggests a major project. Apparently, the team “includes managers, members of the marketing group, and software and hardware engineers who previously worked on the iPhone and iPad.”

The report even names Apple senior director of engineering James Foster and manager Achim Pantfoerder specifically as being involved with the project.
