Apple iPhone 6S event will be streamed to Windows 10 too

Apple can be quite choosy when it comes to who can watch its live events. Unless you own a Safari-enabled Apple device or an Apple TV, you’re usually bang out of luck.

Well that’ll change when the company takes the stage to announce the iPhone 6S on September 9 as Windows 10 users will be able to jump on board with the live stream.

On the Apple Events page, the company reveals the steam will be available on PCs with the Microsoft Edge browser as well as the usual array of Apple devices.

This is all down to Microsoft’s inclusion of Apple’s proprietary HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technology, which Edge supports.

So, if you’re the owner of one of the 75m machines already running Windows 10, you’ll be able to see what’s in store at arguably the most important technology keynote of the year.

The event will take place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, a 7,000 capacity arena.

Apple sent invites out to the media on Thursday morning, with the event kicking off a 10am PT (6pm UK time) on Wednesday September 9.

The next-gen iPhones are likely to be centre of attention. If previous years are anything to go by pre-orders for the new phones should commence a couple of days later, before the official on sale date of September 18.
