Apple iPad 10 (2022): Release date, price, design and specs

The Apple iPad 10 (2022) has been officially announced. Here is everything you need to know about the new tablet.

The iPad 10 is the successor to the A13 Bionic chip-powered iPad 9, which was released last year. The latest iPad comes with an A14 Bionic chip and a USB-C charging port, becoming the next iPad to kick the Lighting adaptor.

This model has been announced alongside the iPad Pro (2022), which you can read more about by clicking on the link prior. Read on to find out everything you need to know about the latest iPad 10.

Release date

The Apple iPad 10 (2022) was officially announced on 18th October 2022 and users can already order the device from the Apple website. The devices will be shipped from the 26th of October in the UK.

Price

In terms of pricing, the iPad 10 is more expensive than its predecessor, with a starting price of £499 for the 64GB variation and £679 for the 256GB variation.

Users who want the cellular model will also see another price increase, costing £679 for the 64GB model and £859 for 256GB.

Apple is still selling the previous iPad 9 too, with a more affordable starting price of £369.

Design

The Apple iPad 10 has undergone a big design change, coming with an all-screen design as well as a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina LED-backlit display. It will come in four colours, including Blue, Silver, Pink and Yellow.

The new iPad does not have a Home button thanks to its larger screen and has instead opted to use the same Touch ID scanner as the iPad Air, which is located on the top of the device.

In terms of ports, it now packs a USB-C connector instead of Apple’s own Lighting adaptor. A USB-C port will make it easier for users to connect peripherals to their devices, and it boasts higher transfer speeds and the ability to connect to external displays. However, there is no headphone jack included in this model, meaning you will need to use audio devices that connect via Bluetooth.

The iPad itself has an angular design with flat edges, looking more like a premium device than the previous generations of iPad.

Specs

Unsurprisingly, Apple has updated the latest Apple iPad 10 with upgraded internals. It will run on the A14 Bionic chip, which comes with a 6-core CPU, 4-core GPU and a 16-Core Neural Engine.

The rear camera is a 14MP wide camera with an f/1.4 aperture, coming with Smart HDR, digital zoom up to five times and auto image stabilisation. It will be able to record video in 4K at 24/25/30 or 60fps, as well as Slo-mo support for 1080p at either 120fps or 240fps.

The front camera is a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with a 122-degree field of view and f/2.4 aperture. It comes with support for Smart HDR 3 and can record video at 1080p at either 24, 30 or 60fps.

Moreover, this iPad will come with iPadOS 16 installed, meaning that users will be able to benefit from new features including the ability to unsend or edit iMessages and Stage Manager, which allows users to resize applications and look at multiple windows in a single view.

Looking at the new all-screen display 10.9-inch LED-backlit display, it has a resolution of 2360×1640, up to 500 nits of brightness and supports True Tone. This iPad also has support for both the 1st generation Apple Pencil as well as the Magic Keyboard Folio, meaning that you can use it for both drawing and typing.

The cellular variation of the Apple iPad 10 will come with support for 5G connectivity and now supports Wi-Fi 6. There will also be support for both physical SIM cards and eSIMs.
