Apple enlists Ray Liotta and the spirit of Goodfellas to hawk Apple Music

Apple Music is reportedly set for an overhaul at this year’s WWDC, but the company is also enlisting some serious muscle to incentivise sign ups.

The latest Apple Music commercial, which debuted in the US on Sunday Night, features actor Ray Liotta invoking his most famous role, real-life gangster Henry Hill from Goodfellas.

Sitting in a nail salon alongside DJ Khaled, Liotta isn’t convinced by the claim that “for $9.99 a month you can pick any song and it’s going to come up on your phone.”

“But there’s thousands and thousands and thousands of songs!” he protests.

When DJ Khaled, who has been working with Apple Music and Beats 1 of late, offers proof and shoots back “don’t play yourself, Ray,” he’s met with that spine-chilling stare.
