Apple has come out and explicitly denied recent claims that it is making a tool to help iOS users switch to Android.
Over the weekend, The Telegraph published a report claiming that Apple was being pressured to build an app that helps users transfer data including contacts, music, and photos from an iPhone to a new Android phone.
However, in a rather unusual move for the company, an Apple spokesperson has come out and denied the report.
“There is no truth to this rumour,” Apple’s Trudy Muller told BuzzFeed. “We are entirely focused on switching users from Android to iPhone, and that is going great.”
According to the original report, European mobile operators were pressuring Apple to make such a switching tool. Such operators apparently feel that the numbers switching from iOS to Android are too low, partly because Apple makes it so tricky to retain data.

Apple has made an app available to make switching from Android to iOS easier, called Movie to iOS. The prospect of a similar tool being released for the return journey now seems rather thin.
Back in October, Tim Cook reported that 30 percent of new iPhone owners from the previous quarter had switched directly from Android. The company is evidently (obviously, you might say) keen to prevent a reversal of those figures.
