Apple Dealt Second Blow After Samsung Galaxy Nexus Ruling As iPad Too Cool To Rule

Both in the UK and US, Apple has now suffered defeats in court against Samsung. The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit temporarily lifted the temporary ban imposed earlier by a San Jose court on the sale of Google’s Galaxy Nexus phone, which – unlike the Asus-made Nexus 7 tablet – is manufactured by Samsung.

While the Galaxy S3 is undoubtedly a far greater threat to the iPhone 4S, it’s still a victory for Samsung and indeed Android that its flagship Google Experience phone is back on sale.

On the other side of the Atlantic, meanwhile, Apple lost an iPad vs Galaxy Tab 10.1 tug-a-war because a UK judge found the Samsung tablet “Not As Cool” as its iOS-running rival.

Apparently, Judge Colin Birss said Galaxy tablets “do not have the same understated and extreme simplicity which is possessed by the Apple design. They are not as cool.” Therefore the Tab doesn’t infringe on the iPad’s design, as it’s noticeably (s)inferior(/s) different. Hey-ho, gotta take ‘em where you can get ‘em.
