Apple has opened an academy and it’s completely free

Apple has opened an academy at a university in Italy, making it the first of its kind in the world.

The tech giant is encouraging the growth of great developers by offering tuition in the art of app making. The course – which runs for 9 months – will cover coding, app design as well as start-up creation and is part of a plan to continue Apple’s involvement in Europe.

The University of Naples Frederico II, Italy is hosting the iOS developer Academy, which is home to 200 students. As you can imagine, the course was hugely oversubscribed – apparently over 4,000 people applied. Fortunately, the course will be expanded next year, maxing out at 400 students. What’s more, thanks to a €10 million investment from both the university and Apple, the course will be completely free.

Sounds good, right? Well it gets better. The Steve Jobs juniors will be given a free iPhone, iPad and MacBook to ensure that they’re equipped for learning. Plus Apple has been busy updating the university campus, designing open-plan classrooms to bring work and rest together.
