Angry Birds to Land on Samsung Smart TVs Using Gesture Control

Samsung has announced that a version of Angry Birds, the mobile phone mega hit, is about to launch on its Smart TV platform.

The special edition has been in the works for several months and uses the Smart TV motion sensing system so that the game can be controlled with hand gestures.

Angry Birds is reportedly due to appear on Samsung’s TV app store later in July and will work on any ES7000, ES8000, or ES9000 series of its Smart TVs.

Rovio Entertainment, the game’s developer, is also soon to release a spinoff animated series, which Samsung Smart TV users will be able to watch via video-on-demand.

It follows this week’s news that the Angry Birds Trilogy is also being prepped for the Xbox 360 and PS3 later in 2012.

Back in the mobile space, Rovio’s latest creation, the non bird-related Amazing Alex, has just been released on iOS and Android.
