Angry Birds Hits Samsung Smart TVs

As predicted, Rovio’s massive-selling Angry Birds game has now hit Samsung Smart TVs. It’s available now as a free download on select models.

This means that you get to play the pig-bothering game in full-on 50-inch splendor, as well as making use of those fancy in-built motion controls for something other than menu operation or web browsing. It’s also the first time you’ve been able to play the worldwide smash hit on a TV without the assistance of an extra box.

As for those select models – Angry Birds has been made available for the ES8000 range, as well as the 2012 LED 7500 class and above. It can be downloaded for free on these sets from the Samsung Smart Hub.

The motion controls are made possible thanks to the Samsung Smart TV range’s in-built camera, combined with Samsung’s Smart Interaction technology.

As well as the game itself, Rovio will be launching a special Angry Birds app onto Samsung smart TVs containing an animated series set in the Angry Birds universe. This should be available later in the year.

If you like the idea of playing Angry Birds on your telly but are not lucky (or rich) enough to own one of the aforementioned Samsung TVs, don’t worry! The full Angry Birds Trilogy – that’s Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio – will be making its way to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Christmas.

If it’s the ‘waving at the telly’ part that attracts, then you’re also covered – these console versions will support Kinect and Move respectively.
