Rejoice, Android fans, because four months after it was officially released into the wild, version 6.0 Marshmallow is finally running on more than 1 in every 100 Google-powered devices.
The latest official figures from the Android Developers’ dashboard (via Android Central) show Marshmallow on 1.2 per cent of all devices, as of February 1.
That’s up from 0.7 per cent a month ago, but still well short of the Gingerbread OS (2.5 per cent), which was released in 2010.
The previous version, Android Lollipop has now amassed 34.1 per cent of the Android market, but it’s still slightly short of 4.4 Kitkat which leads the way with 35.5 per cent of the Android market.
Of course, it’s not all doom and gloom for Marshmallow, which was released on September 29. The period leading up to MWC in February is always a quiet time for smartphone releases.

Other than the new Nexus devices, the only new phone of note packing Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been the HTC One A9. Updates of popular existing handsets have, as yet, been few and far between.
