Amazon Prime adds free unlimited photo storage in UK

Amazon has launched its Prime Photos in the UK, giving Prime customers unlimited photo storage free of charge.

Users will be able to store as many photos as they like on the Amazon Cloud Drive – just in time for your seasonal snaps.

The service goes live today, with Amazon promising secure storage, automatic photo upload, and anywhere, anytime access.

Michael Pasch, Director of Amazon Prime EU, said: “This is the season when families are capturing thousands of photos of Christmas gatherings, special outings and opening presents.”

“Prime Photos will give our members the opportunity to save those special memories for free,” he explained. “With unlimited photo storage we’re providing Prime members in the UK another great way to save time and save money.”

Prime Photos upload is compatible with iOS and Android devices, as well as Amazon-stamped Fire tablets and the Fire Phone. It’s also Mac and Windows friendly.

You’ll be able to access the photos from just about any device, with Amazon keen to proffer the PS3, the PS4, and select LG and Samsung smart TVs are snap-friendly fare.

While the service is completely free to access, you’ll need to shell out for an Amazon Prime membership program first.

Prime currently prices up at £79 per year, offering one-day delivery on upwards of 7 million items, alongside unlimited Prime Instant Video access.
