Amazon MP3 store now optimised for iPhone and iPod touch users

Amazon has announced that its MP3 Store is now optimised for iPhone and iPod touch users accessing it from Safari.

Anyone accessing the Amazon MP3 Store using Safari on their iPhone or iPod touch will now have access to the newly and specially optimised mobile site.

Built on HTML5, customers can purchase music from Amazon’s 25 million song strong catalogue via Safari and still have access to all the Amazon features, including customer ratings and best-seller lists.

Purchases made on the iPhone and iPod touch are automatically stored for free in the Cloud Player. Tracks can then be downloaded or played instantly. They can also be played on other devices including Amazon Kindle Fire and any Android tablets.

“Since the launch of the Amazon Cloud Player app for iPhone and iPod touch, a top request from customers has been the ability to buy music from Amazon right from their devices,” said Steve Boom, Vice President of Amazon Music. “For the first time ever, iOS users have a way to do that – now they can access Amazon’s huge catalogue of music, features like personalised recommendations, deals like albums for £3.99 and songs for 89p and they can buy their music once and use it everywhere.”

Customers will also have access to personalised music suggestions based on any of their previous purchases using the iPhone and iPod touch optimised mobile site.

The online retail giant launched its Amazon Cloud Player app for iPhone and iPod touch in June last year as part of its mission to bring its music service “everywhere”.

iPod touch and iPhone owners will have access to the MP3 store optimised specially from today using their Safari browser.

iPad and other non-iOS devices will still have access to the standard desktop version.
